TRIO OF BUSINESS SPECIALISTS APPOINTED TO REGENERATION BOARD

TRIO OF BUSINESS SPECIALISTS APPOINTED TO REGENERATION BOARD The three appointments - John Murray, Richard Meere and Martin Baxter – bring additional business sector experience to complement the current board membership.

WRC chairman Brian Lowe said there had been a concerted effort to add to what was already a strong board, and the three appointments brought their own specialisms which added to the current skills-set.

As president of Walsall Chamber of Commerce, Mr Murray brings considerable business experience across a range of sectors. Mr Meere adds a depth of legal knowledge and expertise as a long-standing partner at Walsall-based lawyers Enoch Evans. Mr Baxter brings a wealth of experience in the development sector as a qualified chartered surveyor and development director at Shaylor Developments Limited, part of the West Midlands-based Shaylor Group.

Cllr Mike Bird, leader of Walsall Council and WRC board member, said: “Whilst the economic climate continues to be challenging, the board appointments are an important part of maintaining the momentum of the work of WRC. We recognise that whilst we are seeing cranes springing up on the skyline of Walsall, and the level of development activity in the borough compares favourably with anywhere else in the Black Country and the West Midlands, it is important for our board to have a strength and depth across a range of disciplines and skills.

“We are delivering an ambitious regeneration programme, so we are very pleased that the skills-sets we have added to our board are precisely those we need to help us through the challenges that lie ahead,” Cllr Bird added.
